Regulator Control Repair Information:
Shewmaker Electronics is now in it’s 25th year of reliably rebuilding regulator controls produced by: Allis-Chalmers, GE, Siemens, McGraw, Cooper, Moloney (Tempo), Westinghouse, and Beckwith.
Some of our competitors’ main business is rebuilding transformers and switchgear, and they have a small “electronics workbench” off in the corner to repair controls. Unlike these competitors, Shewmaker Electronics is an electronics laboratory dedicated to electronics rebuilding.
We use the term rebuilding instead of repair. A repair means you find the one or two bad parts that caused the control to fail, and replace them. A rebuild means you also replace and upgrade other parts that history has shown will lead to future failures if not done.
Our standard rebuilding procedures include:
- All controls receive our “SOP”- standard upgrades of aging and commonly failing parts.
- All switches and non-sealed pots are cleaned & burnished.
- Microprocessor controls receive a burn-in period to check for potential run time problems such as EEPROM corrections and excessive watchdog resets.
- Each circuit board is defluxed and conformally coated to provide protection from the elements.
- Each control is calibrated to meters traceable to NIST.
- Each control carries a one year warranty.
We regularly service the following types of regulator controls:
General Electric Regulator Controls - These include the ML-32, VR-1, SM-2 and GE-2011 regulator controls. We also reliably service regulator control component boards like the Green Board, the LCD board and our updated replacement for the Brown Board: the RB-2.
SIEMENS (Allis-Chalmers) Regulator Controls - We regularly repair the SJ-4, SJ-5, SJ-6, IJ-2, IJ-2A,MJ-2A, MJ-3, MJ-3A, and the MJ-X units.
Cooper (McGraw) Regulator Controls- We repair the SR-32, Autobooster Controls, Type 550 Control Assembly, VTSN, TAC142255 Solid State Regulator Control, TAC142363 Voltage Limiter Control, CL-1 (Analog Version), CL-1,2,2A Digital Controls and the CL-4,5 Advanced Digital Controls.
Moloney (Tempo) Regulator Controls-We repair the 650427 Voltage Sensor Card, the 650428 Time Delay Card and the 650484 Complete Voltage Monitor Assembly.
Westinghouse Regulator Controls-We repair the ML-32 Static Regulator Control (Green Board Type), the ML-32 Regulator Control (Brown Board Type - We upgrade the defunct brown board with a Shewmaker Electronics RB-2 board), the SVR Voltage regulating relay and the UCA Voltage regulating relay.
